Quantum Leadership

Leadership that doesn't all run through the owner.

A leadership development programme for clinic teams. Your leaders learn a shared way to handle the hard parts of leading people, so there is a common approach to come back to, whoever is in the room.

For health businesses with more than one person leading others: owners, directors, practice managers, senior clinicians and new team leads.

Sound familiar?

The same issue, handled three different ways.

Once a clinic has more than one leader, some of the hardest problems stop being about any one person. They show up in the gaps between people.

Leaders who respond differently

One leader charges in, one goes gentle, one isn't sure and waits. The team learns that the outcome depends on who they ask.

The conversation everyone knows is overdue

A performance or behaviour issue that has been noticed for months and never named, because raising it feels worse than living with it.

Expectations that live in someone's head

Staff aren't told clearly what good looks like, so they can't tell where they stand, and leaders are frustrated by gaps they never spelled out.

New leaders learning on the job

Good clinicians promoted into leading people, with no shared playbook to fall back on when it gets difficult.

What your leaders build

Capability across the team, not just at the top.

The programme works on the everyday skills of leading people in a clinic, and gives the whole leadership group a common language for them.

  • Difficult and sensitive conversations, approached as a way of helping someone progress rather than a confrontation to avoid.
  • Giving and receiving feedback without it turning defensive on either side.
  • Reading people and situations, including the gap between what someone intended and how it landed.
  • Clear expectations, so staff know what good looks like and where they stand.
  • Building performance without rescuing, so problems stay with the person who can solve them.
  • Delegating and streamlining the work that keeps leaders stuck on low-value tasks.
  • Leading different people differently, recognising that people want different things from their work.
  • Leading yourself under load, so the leader stays steady when the clinic isn't.
How it runs

Recorded lessons, then live sessions on real situations.

  1. Nine sections, one at a time. Each section opens with recorded lessons in the programme's online space, so the ideas are covered before anyone joins a call.
  2. A live online session for each section. Your leaders meet as a group, roughly a month apart, and work the ideas through situations from their own clinics.
  3. Your team, together. The programme runs with your own leadership group, so the approaches they learn are shared from the start.

Sessions are led by Shane Gunaratnam, founder of Culture of One. Scheduling is agreed with your group.

A client's experience

Sean Fuller, WA Physio Group

Sean's story, summarised

Different leaders at WA Physio Group handled the same situations differently: some unsure, some charging in, some very gentle. Sean says the programme gave them ideas to come back to, a more shared approach, and more appreciation of each other's perspectives. He found it especially valuable for the younger leaders in the group who were new to the role.

The biggest shift he describes is his own. Sean calls himself avoidant with difficult conversations, often the good cop. Through the programme he came to see that putting a conversation off for his own comfort wasn't helping the person in front of him, and he now sees that conversation as support for their progression, their patient care and their work. He is clear that he is still trying to improve at it.

He also describes a team that is more aligned, and clearer expectations that mean staff know where they stand and feel more comfortable.

In Sean's own words

"I think I'm better at difficult conversations."

"I think better alignment in our team… a lot of us are singing from the same songbook now."

"If you're not making it really clear, then all of a sudden they just don't know."

"I liked the Quantum Leadership course in that it gave a really nice overview of how caring, thoughtful leaders think and work."

"It's an impressive programme you put together."

Sean Fuller, Co-owner, WA Physio Group

WA Physio Group came to the programme as an established group with experienced leaders. The programme worked alongside the leadership they already had.

Is it a fit?

Who it's for, and who it isn't.

A good fit if

  • You lead a health business with more than one person leading others.
  • Your leaders handle similar situations in noticeably different ways.
  • You have people stepping into leadership for the first time.
  • You want leadership capability to sit across the team, not only with the owner.

Not the right fit if

  • You work solo or have no one else leading people yet.
  • You need help with a live employment dispute. That belongs with your HR adviser or lawyer.
  • You're after a one-off workshop rather than a programme your team works through together.
Questions

Common questions

Who takes part?

Your leadership group: practice managers, senior clinicians, team leads and directors. Owners can take part alongside their leaders.

Is it online?

Yes. The recorded lessons sit in an online programme space and the live sessions run on video call, so leaders across different sites can join the same session.

How long does it take?

There are nine sections, each with a live session, held roughly a month apart. We agree the schedule with your group before the first session.

What does it cost?

The programme is priced per team. We talk through the details on an alignment call.

How does it relate to Advisory?

Quantum Leadership can run on its own or alongside one-to-one Advisory. Either way, the conversation starts with an alignment call.

Is this HR or legal advice?

No. The programme builds leadership capability. Specific employment matters belong with your HR adviser or lawyer.
